Robots in Disguise

Can someone geeky (i.e. Baffa or Jamie) confirm whether or not this is a bona-fide generation one Transformer?
EDIT: I did a little research of my own and determined that the name of the character is "Sixshot" and the toy was originally issued in 1987. It was, however, reissued in 2000, so this is most likely a reissue rather than an original. Still, the toy was apparently originally issued in extremely rare black and clear versions, so I'm gonna head down after work today to see if I can glean any more information from the box.

Is there no date printed anywhere on the box or the toy itself? Sorry, my toy geek skillz are somewhat lacking. I'm sure their must be some online resource somewhere that can help you though. Good luck!
As you discovered, it certainly is a G1 transformer. The G2s are pretty easy to spot, since almost all of them sport retarded color schemes and feature lame transformations.
Personally, I think the closer to the 1984 releases the better, as my G2 toys are almost all in good condition since I was almost ten years old by the time they came out and I was finished with my chewing-on and losing accessories phase.
This site has tons of info on the different transformer models. They even have a page on the Japan-only bullet train transformer (my dad brought me one from Japan) whose name I never knew until now!
man, than shinkansen transformer is sweet
